YouTube introduced “Claim your Content” a few months ago. Here is one more step towards curbing online video piracy. A new software, i.e. the YouTube Video Identification Software put into use at the website is in the Beta version, and will be used by the copyrights holders themselves.
So how soon will Viacom get rid of the pending billion-dollar lawsuit against YouTube for not blocking pirated videos thus far? Who knows, whatever be it, this is not the best alternative.
YouTube needs to find more scalable solutions for such massive problems, and while it might be difficult to check each and every upload, the best thing to do would be to enforce strict laws to punish the offenders with more than just a ban, something like a fine would suffice and for that, the sign-up process could be made a little more serious by including a Credit Card account on check.
