WordPress Rating Scams and New Releases March 2nd, 2007

The best rated themes on Theme Viewer suggest one and only one thing:

That the designer got lucky, because some other designer didn’t use a fake name yet to spoil that rating.

For everytime one designer gets a rating with 5 stars, another designer takes some time out to change that 5 into 4 or 3 or 2 or 1 within a day’s time, depending on the level of frustration in their lives. It’s like two kids fighting, we call ourselves grownups:)

The funnier part is when two designers mutually rate each other low, with fake names and the funniest part is the preposterous comments designers leave for themselves with a 5, there is nothing more hilarious than that. I am sure they laugh at their own comments too.

Anyways….

Here’s a list of the new themes on Theme Viewer for March 2nd, 2007:

Yeah, I noticed that and as a frequent theme contributor, wondered whether it was “right” to rate one’s own theme. Then I noticed quite a few designers would drop an explanatory note about their newly released theme in the comment box and hit the five star on the way out, thereby starting themselves out with a nice five-star rating.

So I decided to try that too. Karma’s a [you know what]. I accidentally hit the one-star rating by mistake. Served me right I guess.

I would prefer to see the star ratings done away with and just have some good critiques (not snark fests, but good honest critiques and so far only Garry Conn and a handful of others seem to be able to do this in a constructive way) in the comments so we (designers) could learn as we go.

    @ Joni,

The most hilarious comment on Theme Viewer is Ekta Paneri’s where she(Ria, Ekta’s alias) asks herself(Ekta) if she could design for rediff.com. If I could believe that, I would believe anything.

Now you come up with calling a spammer like Garry Conn constructive. Go check his comments on all of our themes and you will change your mind.

Thanks to you guys being so naive, not to understand that Garry Conn has been lingering on Theme Viewer for a year now hoping to get attention, first in the name of Blog the Internet. He used to leave nasty remarks earlier(evil hook linkbait), now he is leaving good comments (very selectively) to confuse the shit out of everyone, while he continues to dirty the most popular site with endless irresponsible comments and backlinks.

BTW, do you even know which designer is using which aliases to fuck your ratings????

Anyways, Aaron Krane from Technorati’s Buzz TV recently contacted us and suggested that we pitch this “scam story” around to some high-profile blogs in the technology, software, and blogging sectors and we are going to make sure that all these aliases be exposed soon.

This is one of the few examples to show what Garry Conn is:

    Nonzero Black

[...] If I start naming all the aliases from 2006 used by designers, this post will probably be the longest. To continue from my earlier post on this issue: [...]

Was just told by my friend that my name was mentioned here in this post of urs about wordpress rating scam. Quite surprised as i am, but now that after reading most the comments you’ve made all over the theme viewer, i am not really expecting anything meaningful than the throwing blames that you usually do all over.

Anyways, just so you know.. the first comment here .. http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/2-columns/1589/nonpro565-10/.. resulting from the same IP is cause its a small LAN of my office and Ria is one of my collegues. Secondly, if u care to read what she has written in it, the “rediffblogs” she is mentioning, is a Indian Blogging Website here.. http://blogs.rediff.com/ .. which also allows templating system, that she is using to blog on.

so before you go ahead and make this kind of Bullsh*t comments on other again, try and take a look at the facts first.

    Ekta.

    Ekta, Ria or *******q designer?

Just consider yourself lucky that your other aliases are still intact, like the designer name you are working under to release blatant rip-offs.

Ask your friend Ria to send an email from ria@rediffmail.com, let’s see if she has access to her own email!
