My guess is that when looking for quality domains to submit your article you should primarily look for domains with good Alexa traffic and not so much with good PageRank. Why I’m suggesting that is because Pagerank is assigned for individual pages and note whole domains, thus an AD’s home page of 6 or above does little in terms of authority for your own (submitted) article page. On the other hand Alexa, although it’s not very accurate it gives you vital clues that that domain is visited and consequently, your articles are more exposed.
The best course of action when marketing with articles is to separate you’re chosen article directories in two distinct categories, namely: 1) those that get you referral traffic and 2) those that provide you back links to your money web pages. So use an article submission software to submit around three (50% or above uniqueness) versions of the same article to as many modest-quality article directories as you can and then submit manually your carefully crafted articles to the top 25 highly trafficked ADs.
