Ads by Google: “Put your Ads where the Money Is”

Google Adsense If Google ads makes you ogle, you sure are going the right way… use Google Adsense intuitively, if you feel a strong urge to click a particular ad, more than likely, others will.

Here are some quick tips that might do the trick!!

Visibility of ad: Do not dump your ads right at the bottom of your website, unless you have a website where scrolling is not required.

Hot spots: left side of your page and the middle.

Best sizes:
336×280 large rectangle
160×600 wide skyscraper
300×250 inline rectangle
728 leaderboard

Contextual ads: Filter all the useless advertisements from Competitive Ad Filter link below the AdSense Setup tab using the entire URI/ URL of the website starting with www.nameoftheuselesswebsite.com.

Optimize: Use all the three Google ad units if you have a lot of traffic, else cut it off, you don’t want your ads jumping on your audience.

Link/menu ads: Build interest with link units in your navigation or menu area.

Blend your ads with your design: Match the headings and body of your ads with the headings and body of your posts, both in terms of colors and fonts, to some extent.

Multiple websites trial: Check ads in multiple locations to see what works well for your site. You could try using multiple Blogger accounts for experiment/ test.

Google compliance: BEWARE. Placing images in context with ads side by side could be the end of your Google Adsense account. Check the example below.

To the posters who seem a little confused about Google ads. This is about putting Google Adsense ads on your own website which will cost you nothing as you share the revenue with Google. The ads are placed on your website just by adding a little bit of code (which you get from Google)to a web page. Google then serves the ads automatically for you.

    @ Pravin

As far as I know Google has no minimum requirements like site traffic and such to host adsense, they might have some limits on the kind of site (adult, casino, etc) that can host it, not sure there either. One thing they do is check your biographic information that you provided, like verifying your social security in the US and maybe even your bank account. To check why the delay, login to your Google account and look for restrictions on your adsense account and do the required to lift it.

how can i put ad on left side as the blogspot site doesnt allow but i see others doin it

    @ Yogeesh

You need to check your blogspot template and I am sure you can edit and add adsense to it. However, the current skin you are using is one of the defaults and must eb modified if you need to create a 3rd column.

Yes Google adsense is the way to go. I’ve tried Adbrite and was dissappointed to say the least. What a big waste of time. I had ads right at the top of my page, and not 1 click. I finally deleted alll my ads from them and put my adsense back on.
Now i get clicks all the time.
Just be careful what ads you restrict from running on your site. After I did this my earning went down, and my conversions didn’t increase. So i restored a couple of the sites I blocked and everything is back to normal.
